A grey area …

Well it’s no secret … we all know that smoking isn’t a healthy option for you, your colleagues or the environment – however despite the known negatives, the fact remains that adult Australians are still legally entitled to purchase cigarettes, and therefore continue to have the right to choose to smoke.

With tightening laws however, the places in which someone can legally smoke are becoming more and more limited – and there are regulations in place regarding smoking in the home (including Strata properties) that need to be acknowledged.

So what are the rules about lighting up?

While the rulings continue to be a hot topic of debate & review, the Cancer Council’s recommended by-law states that the owner or occupier of a lot must not smoke nor allow smoking within a lot or within the common property.
